Finance
We first started to look at a different types of location in our pre production stage. We decided to film at our local bus stop this is only a small distance away from out collage site, this means that is a distance that we can walk by foot. No travel is required which also means no cost is needed. To get to our main site which is Acland Burghley school i have found out that many of our group takes the bus. Because we are still in full time education Travel on busses are free.
where are location is we are short walks away from many coner shops and small resturants and cafes , whilst we are filming we can takes break's to go get lunch, no public transport is needed to get to theses shops. The money to buy lunch is coming out of the pockets of each member from our group. The normal amount of many we spend a day on lunch is around 4-5 pound.
We are creating this short film in our media sessions. We are made into a group of 5 taking part in everything in the short film to widen our understanding and to stretch our skills, this means actors will be the members of our group. So no actors need to be hired or paid for because of this and the actors will have free time due to the filming time being in the media sessions.
We are using different props and different costumes in our short film. Phones and Headphones are used as well as a schoolbag. Therese are all owned y member's of the group brought in for the effect and relestic feel it will have on the short film. Wardrobe is also owned by the members of the group coming into collage in the clothes that they have been asked to come up with to represent the personailty of the character. Because this is all owned by us there is no cost of buying props and wardrobe. If the costumes for the short film needs can not be brought to the filming the Drama department will be happy to donate costumes. This will also not cost.
So to sum up the Finance stage to our short film the only cost that is needed is for lunch which will come out of the pockets of the members of the group.
Personnel
Crew: to make a successful film you must have a crew which you are able to rely on to perform duties as you will not be able to do everything by your self. we decided that we would need a
-director (Amelia)
-producer (Producer)
-wardrobe and make up artist (Doriana)
-editor (Joey)
As we are a small group creating a short film, we do not need a big crew which consists of more than 10 different people. As it is a class production we did not have enough people to help with different crew roles so we had to improvise with what we had, Everyone is responsible for there own role in the crew.
Cast: The cast is also a big part in personnel as without the cast there would be no production. For our short film are cast only consist of small casts such as a
-main character (boy)
-love interest(girl)
-love interests partner(girl)
These are all the characters within our short film that we have created. However one problem we have with only having such minimal characters is if any of our characters where absent or has had an accident we wont be able to replace them which means we would have to keep pur filming on hold till our character is well enough to carry on filming, in addition to this we cant change our characters as there will be no continuity between the shots.
Resources needed and available
In order to film or to produce a film, facilities are needed to get a perfect finish, for example from settings to camera, lighting and sound booths. My group and I decided to keep it the same setting and location the reason for this is to make the viewers feel more comfortable whilst watching the film as they are aware of there surroundings in the film, in addition to this it is a local bus stop which means it is close to our college which means we are still in full time education so staying somewhere local and dosent come out of our budget is beneficial for us. As we are only students we have less access to better quality facilities and equipment. The equipment that we had access to was the canon eos 600D camera, sound booths, artificial lighting, reflectors etc. As we had access to all our facilities to shoot our short film, we did not have to worry about borrowing or hiring any equipment. As there are only a limited amount of cameras within our media class, we had to make do and share with each other, this is the fairest way we could of gone about this task. As there is little facilites that is provided in class it was harder for us to film as we would usually film at the same time.
Preparing budget
As we planned and worked on what things we have to pay for the facilities that we would need for the budget. As we had most of our facilities within the class we saved our budget for food and hot drinks, as it was cold and we was filming outside we needed to keep pur selves warm. Everyone in the group had there own amount of budget for themselves. in addition to this we did not need to pay for travel as we are still students it is paid for us. We did not need to pay for any of our equipment however we needed to take care of it as if the equipment is our own. If anything was to happen to the equipment then we would have to pay for any of the equipment to be re-paired.
Contact personnel
As we are students who are filming, we worked together to produce this footage, our group was chosen by friendship,as all the girls new each other we deiced to do the filming together, we included Joey in our group as he did not have anyone else to film with and he did not want to film on his own. If any one in our class could not attend school on the day we would be filming, we would then have to contact them as we had contact numbers for them.
Book resources
In order to fim we needed to book the camera, and when we could use it, the reason for this is there a a few cameras in our media class and more students which meant we had to take turns in filming our short films. We would also need to book different types of equipment which again relates the camera situation there is only a few facilites within a large class. By scheduling timing we would have to inform our teacher on when we wanted to use any of the equipment this would keep the teacher aware of who will be using what and when.
Prepare schedule
As the members in our group al have different lessons throughout the day we only have our media lessons to film, which are usually 2 hour lessons, in addition to this any of our free periods during the day as well as after school. We decided as a group to only shoot our film in our media lessons, this is because we found it convenient for everyone in the group to film in the lessons. We created a plan before we started filming, the plan consist of what we would be filming and on what days, this helped our group a lot as it helped us keep on track with our filming and not fall behind. Are schedule was
to film day 1 scene 1 on the 15 of November at 9;30 and day 2 scene 2 at 10:40. On the 18 of novemeber we decided to film day 3 at 14:05 on the 19th day 4 at 9:00 and on the 22 we filmed the last day which was day 5 at 9:00 which was our dedline for shooting. we kept to this deadline.
Identify health and safety implications
Looking at our location we had to consider health and safety implications, this is because we are filming on a busy road which consist of cars driving by. The implications we thought about would be the cold environment, vehicle impact, stress etc. We looked into more location places to see if there can be a safer environment for us to film, also the cold environment when we was filming, we had to dress up extra warm to prepare ourselves for the cold.
Identify legal implications
As we are using a song in our short film, we needed to make sure that our song was copyright free, as our song is not from a celebrity and from a free music stock, we didn't find this much of an issue. If we was to ask a celebrity to use there song, it would cost the group more money than any one has in the group we would also need to ask for there permission due to copyright reasons. With the company PRS http://www.prsformusic.com/Pages/default.aspx they allow you to create a license in a easy and sufficient way in order for you to have access to using copyright music, with the license they have to also pay for the song they would want to use.
Identify risk to project
There are a range of different ways in which the production can fail. Some of the ways consist of having terrible weather, which can effect our schedule and days we are supposed to film. Any of our members in the group can be absent or be injured which can slow down the production. Another risk to this would be any damage to the equipment can effect our filming times as we would be behind on our filming.
