Single camera techniques i've used i my footage

Single Camera Technique
Where have I shown this?
Framing & Composition

Variety of shot sizes
Throughout my short film I have showed how I have used a range of different shots in my short film, an example of this is using a close up on Joey's face to show his facial expressions and how he is feeling just by his expressions, Long shot of Amelia walking towards the bus stop etc.
Head Room
We considered head room in our short film however it wasn't as clear, for example when Joey was sitting at the bus stop the first scene and looks at the timetable, we didn't leave enough headroom to make it clear. However as i made a  extra footage of different shots that I haven't included in the actual short film, I included the head room which is more obvious and clear as there is also more space above the head than usual.
Looking Room
I made this shot more clear in my  extra footage that I created, I show this technique in my footage as when the Amelia looks to one side which I then make it as a eye line match but I leave a large amount of space to show what Amelia is looking at which is in the next shot.
Rule of Thirds
We have shown this in the actual short film where our main character Joey is sitting in the middle of the bus stop, we made sure of this as we used the gird as a guideline to make sure the composition was good.
Use of perspective
We used a range of shots in our short film showing different perspectives for example when Amelia i walking past Joey she looks at him with a shot of her point of view then a shot of Joey looking at Amelia with his point of view.
Blocking
We used blocking in our main footage, in our footage we show this technique when Amelia is walking towards Joey, when Amelia stops in front of Joey he shows her his expressions. This action shows the attraction between the two characters as well as the love interest that Joey has for Amelia.
Eye line match
Within our main footage we show a range of eye line matches for example the first eye line match we use is when Joey looks at the bus time table, our second eye line match is when Joey is looking at his phone to check the time and the camera going back to his reaction.  In addition I also show a brief shot in my extra footage when the main character is looking at different things whilst she is waiting for a friend, i show an eye line match of her looking in a direction which then switches to another shot of the eye line match.
High/ Low / Dutch Angle
I have used all these types of angles in my extra footage that I have created. I performed the dutch angle by focusing the camera on a mac computer and turning the camera to different angles, I then show another shot which consists of the high and low angle, by doing this I i took a high angle shot of the mac computer then took a lower angle shot of the mac.
Focus

Manual Focus
Manual focus was used throughout the whole of the main footage, this is to make it more clear to see the characters actions and emotions.
Focus Pull
I performed this technique in my extra footage at the beginning. i showed this technique by having my main character at the beginning being out of focus which was very blurry and unclear to then moving the lens around to make the character more clear and sharper.
Manipulate Depth of Field
I used manipulate depth of field in my extra footage by placing two of the same bottles in front of each other on a table, By performing this technique I focused on the first bottle which blurred the back bottle out which then left the front bottle sharp and clear. I then changed the focus from the front one to the back bottle which made the bottle at the front blurry and unclear and the back bottle in more of a sharp focus.
Movement

Smooth Panning / Tilting
In my main footage, I used a few smooth pans to show when the characters are walking around also when the bus is passing by. I also show this in my extra footage by including a complex shot of a pan and a track of my character walking.
Tracking In/Out (Hand Held)
I used this technique in both of my footage for example in my main footage I track the main character walking toward the bus stop. I also included tracking in my complex shot of my character walking down the road. In addition I also used a range of hand held camerawork in my main footage for example most of my point of views where hand held footage.
Complex Shot
I used a complex shot in my extra footage as I did not include it in my main footage. My complex shot consist of a pan of my character then into a track of her walking down the road.
Coverage

Shot/Reverse Shot
As I did not include a shot reverse shot in my main footage, I created a short clip showing a brief conversation to show how this technique works. In order to perform this task I sat Amelia in front of Joey and took a clip of her from an over the shoulder shot, then did the same with taking a clip of joey over Amelia's shoulder to show its both of there points of views.
30 Degree Rule
I included the 30 degree rule in my main footage by filming our main character in one spot if I then wanted to show the main character in the same spot but showing another relationship with another character, i would move the camera to another spot within the 30 degrees of the first spot.
Cut In / Cutaway
I used cut away in my extra footage, when my main character was at the bus stop The camera was a medium close up of the character, it would then cut to things that would relate to where she was.
Multiple Takes / Continuity of Action
I used continuity editing in both my main footage and my extra footage to keep the continuity the same , I have shown this on day 5 when Joey sat at the bus stop in one shot taking of his bag and next shot of him still taking his bag of.
Lighting & Colour

Use of Artificial Lighting
I performed this technique in my extra footage, i included it at the end of the footage which was the main character staring at the camera whilst she had the artificial lighting in front of her, this made her stand out more and look more clear in the camera.
Key/Fill/Back light
In my extra footage I use the key and the fill light when using artificial lighting. The key light was the main light that as used to light the character as well as the surroundings, using the key light just on one side it creates a slight shadow on the other side of the characters face which is when I included the fill light to fill in the shadowed area to keep the lighting balanced and equal on each side.
Use of Natural Light
Natural Lighting was used throughout the whole of the main footage, as we where filming the whole footage outside we mainly used natural lighting.
White Balance
As we started filming we used white balance to show our camera what the color white actually is, by doing this we placed a blank white sheet of paper in front of the camera, we then took the picture of the sheet and changed settings to have it focus with the white balance.
Tinting
I included tinting in my extra footage, by doing this I used a blue and red filter on both of the lights I used and what it did was shine both of the colours bright which created a tint on the characters face.
Sound

Use of Wild Track
As we did use wild track in our main footage, we filmed a minute of background noise before filming so there wont be any unknown noises that could disrupt or ruin the footage. However as we had a soundtrack over the footage it was not needed.
Non-diagetic sound
We used non-diagetic sound throughout the whole of our main footage, it was a non copyright soundtrack we found on a free music for productions website. We chose this soundtrack to have more of an effect on the audience as they was the short film.
Recording Dialogue
I used this technique in my extra footage which was a sound boom to pick up any type of sound, for example I used the sound boom when my characters where having a conversation with one another over the phone.
ADR
I included ADR in my extra footage, by doing this I recorded one of my characters voice to create an overlap of there actual voice in the footage. I showed this when the the first main character answers her phone and says 'hey'. This just shows how ADR makes the sound more clear.
