I will be focusing on the first scenario given to us which is about promoting Laswap sixth form. The video will consist of reasons for why young people should be apart of the sixth form. Our client will be Mr Quirke who is the director of the sixth form at Acland Burghley School. In the video I will be mentioning all the positive aspects of the sixth form to help promote it. The clip will consist of photos of the sixth form as well as brief interviews with staff members and students at the sixth form to provide first hand opinions on what they think of the sixth form. The whole purpose of the video is to promote and inform parents and students about the sixth form. Analysing the brief I will also be focusing on legal and ethical, regulatory, amendments to final project, budgets, conditions and fees. These are all the points I will be focusing on from the brief given.
Constraints (legal, ethical, regulatory)
From the project brief there are different aspects which I will have to take in for consideration before I start to film the corporate video to make sure the video meets the clients needs and requirements for the video.
Some of the legal constraints that will be relevant in the corporate video are; copyright of a song or brand that might feature in the video, If I would want to use a song from an artist I would have to make sure I have permission to use the song as it was created by them, ways I can do this is by creating an email/letter asking if I can use the song and what might be the reason why I am using it. Another legal constraint is making sure I have permission to interview and film in the school environment with the students and staff involved, if any of the students are under the age of 18 I would need to ask permission from their legal gaurdians by having them sign a legal document allowing them to be filmed and be involved in the corporate video. I will be creating a risk assessment for the health and safety of the cast and crew who will be involved in the making of the corporate video. By performing the risk assessment it will allow us to be aware of any of the risks and hazards that can occur when filming and find ways in how we can prevent these risks.
Some of the ethical constraints I will address when filming is to make sure the content of the video is not seen to anyone involved and the viewers as offensive by how I might approach people or portray a location in the video.
Looking at the regulatory constraints of a corporate video, I have analysed into the companies ASA and Ofcom which create codes and conventions for all sources of media and what can be shown in their content and what cant be shown to the public. If the client is satisfied with the corporate video created, I would then have to make sure the corporate video fits well with the requirements of the codes and conventions ASA and Ofcom are asking for, this might consist of focusing on any copyright issues, making sure the message as well as the information we are conveying to the viewers about the college are truthful facts and finally making sure the corporate video does not consist of any footage that might be offensive or distressing to the audience of the video.
Budget; (amendments to budget and conditions):
From the brief I, I will be conducting my own research on the sixth form and what my budget would need to be in order to create the video. Looking into the research I have realised that creating this video does not require a budget at all, as I have access to the schools in the sixth form, I also don't need to worry about providing a cost to travel to the other schools as they are all walking distance and lastly I have access to all equipment I would need to film which will be provided by the media department at Acland Burghley. I will not also need to pay for anyone to be in the video as students I will be using are volunteered students from the schools. From the research I have gathered I will share the information I have gathered with the client and discuss the what they want for the video and build an understanding on what is expected for the video, also we will discuss the research I have gathered about the video as well as talk about the budget and what the client might think of it.
Conditions:
As I have not been in contact with my client yet to arrange a meeting and discuss the different conditions of the project that the client might be asking for. As soon as the meeting is arranged and scheduled we will be discussing the different aspects of the project for example if any changes or anything added on to the filming to meet the clients requirements. In the meeting we will also be discussing the regulations of the video and where might the client want the final edit to be aired.
Project:
Once I have discussed the brief with my client and what they would want for the corporate video as well as what I can provide myself, I would be able to create a schedule for myself and the client, the schedule consist of a production time as well as a finished date for the corporate video. In discussion with the client I will ask them a few specific questions such as who they would like to have in the video and anything they would like to add into the video as an extra. I would have to be prepared and organised as well as ahed of timing as I would need to have the video ready by the deadline created. I will also be pitching a few ideas to the client in order to make the corporate video the best possible video, some of the ideas I will be presenting are; Filming students/staff about the sixth form and their experiences and opinions in the college as well as shots of the college and its facilities provided.

1a- Types of brief
Contractual brief:
A legal document which has been created between the employee and client that will be required by the company. The document would outline the duties and how the company organises their work as well as set specific guidelines which the companies must follow. It is a document which defines the expectations of a client, the prices they agree on and the payment terms. Failing this could result to a breech of a contract which would mean the company could face legal actions.
Here is an example of a contractual brief for an advertising/marketing agreement. From this example you can see all the agreements given to you in order for you to be informed on what they are looking for from the client. From the agreement you can see how there are specific requirements that are given to you, as it is a legal document you have to follow all the points provided.
Looking at a contractual brief and the difference it has with the other briefs, as the contractual brief is a legal document it is a legitimate brief that requires specific guidelines on what they would want the company to achieve. The difference with a contractual and formal brief is a formal brief is not classified as a legal brief which allows the brief to be very basic and straightforward.

Informal brief:
A less professional brief, that outlines the brief verbally. This brief does not inquire a written document.A discussion would be conducted between the client and employer where they will come to an agreement about the details on the contract.
Here is an example of an informal brief for a project brief. In the example brief it is a written brief which provides a basic list of needs and requirements of what the client is asking for. From the brief you can see how specific the client is, this allows the job of the employer to conduct what the client wants perfectly as it is very straightforward.
Looking at an informal brief and the difference it has with over briefs, as it is an informal brief it does not have to be carefully constructed like a co-operative brief as you are informing the employer what you are looking for as this can be also done verbally not much effort would be put into a documented version. However a co-operative brief is a much more efficient brief as there will be more than one company involved with this brief type. Co-opertaive brief is a brief which is a document given from one person to a various of people rather than informal which is a one to one brief.

Co-Operative brief:
Two or several production companies are employed to follow the set brief provided which would be completed in team basis. A deadline would be given for the whole project to be completed, as this can affect the client which means they will not be satisfied with the work, this can then affect the company as they might not employ the companies in the future.
Here is an example of a co-operative brief from the state university Middle Tennessee, This brief is a well constructed brief which has specific requirements on what it is asking for. You can see there are different sections on the brief made to create the brief very straightforward.

When the client and the employer come to an agreement about the brief of the project, which will consist of the final ideas of both the employer and the client. It is important that everyone such as the client, employer and company agree with the brief. If they do not agree to it all together it can cause inevitable problems in the near future.
Commission Brief:
A large corporation that employes an independent company to create their product and project for them. This type of brief is negotiated between two companies, this can be opposed to an external client as anyone who receives the product once it has been established.
Tender brief:
When a client produces an advertisement which would require a media product to be created. An employer such as a production company would provide a brief, a budget and a proposal which would be pitched to the client to secure their chance obtaining any work that was advertised by the employer. The client would then make a decision on the best proposal featured form the group of candidates.
Competition brief:
A brief that has been made for all production companies to have access to the brief, this would be given to the companies who are participating in creating a project/ product. Each corporation would provide their own brief which will also be outlining their ethos. After finishing each of the projects, the companies are then judged by the clients.
