Legal and ethical constrains on production

I have considered the legal and ethical constraints on production, we found a range of legal constraints which can effect the making of the film.

Copyright on different music, scripts, buildings, locations and artwork
Copyrighting different music, scripts, building, locations and artwork can be known as a copyright issue as you are taking other peoples work without there permission or consent. An example of this is using a song from any celebrity and including it into the film as a backing track, this would only be considerable if the celebrity knows about the song and that they are paid the amount they want from the film makers. In addition this also relates to using a specific type of location for your film for example wanting to film in front of number 10 downing street you would need any type of permission and consent from the prime minster etc. to be able to film there.
As we have to take this into consideration whist making our short film as we would like to use a soundtrack of our choice, having copyright on most songs makes it hard for us to choose the perfect song that would fit well with our actual short film. As we know we cannot use anything that is copyright related, we have to improvise what we have and still make it into a good and enjoyable short film.

Illegal acts on film
Illegal acts on film is when a scene within your film is illegal to be shown for example any type of animal cruelty that is shown or a clip of a real life murder, things like this can have an effect on the viewers as they would feel very uncomfortable watching as well as distressing and upsetting for the viewers.
We don't need to take this into much consideration as our film has nothing to relate with as we are filming a love/comedy which won't be as unpleasant to watch as there is no violence or murder.

Breaking health and safety regulations/laws
By breaking any health and safety regulation it would mean filming and acting in dangerous locations an example of this is filming on roads, this is a huge heath and safety risk as even though there might not be cars driving past, a car can come out of no where. With this you can block of the part of the road you would be needing in order to film in a safe manner. If there are on going injuries occurring whilst you are filming, this can cause the film to be cancelled as the lack of attention that goes towards your cast and crews safety can be question in court.
A health and safety regulation is one of the things we need to considerate, as we are filming at a bus stop on a main road, a safety regulation would be my group and I could come in contact with a fast moving vehicle, by knowing this we decided to only film on the pavement so there is a lower risk of anyone putting them selves in danger.

Use of locations without permission
As I have mentioned earlier you can't film a famous place, location or landscape without any consent or permission from the person who owns that particular area, by informing the authority you won't have a problem with the copyright law.
This could be a problem with our short film this is because we was using bus stops which belonged to the local council, which then meant we had to contact the council to ask for permission on if we can use that particular bus stop.

Use of people without permission
If any filming is performed in a public location, there will people of the public who will be walking around and going about there daily life, if any sort of filming was to take place in the public, the people of the public would have to be informed about it. Ways in which you can inform them is having some sort of notice sign telling the people you will be filming, by this they are informed and then it will be there decision if they would want to be in the background or not. If there are any members of the public that where unaware of them being filming, the most responsible thing to do would be to blur them out from the film as they did not give you any permission to be in the film. However if a member of the public did not agree to be filmed but still was this can then be taken up to court as it is against there own will.
For our short film we are filming on a public street also using a bus stop, as you do have members of the public walking up and down the road it was hard to film our production as we would wait for them to pass by stopping the camera and carrying it on, also members that was waiting for the bus as they would not say if they didn't want to be on the camera we still stopped the camera and waited for the bus to come so they feel more comfortable as we did not want to film them without there permission. By showing the public we where filming, we placed signs up around the bus stop to inform the public that there was a filming session going on and to keep them aware of the camera will be running.

I have also considered ethical constraints on production by looking at what is acceptable on a film set
I believe women should be treated fairly and equally in there workplace, this means giving a woman any job of her choice on the set. This also relates to anyone with different skin colours that would want to work in the same position, they should be treated equally and with the same respect as anyone else working on set.
Within my group there are four girls including myself and one boy, this means the females dominate the group which also means we are treated fair. As there is one boy we treat him with as much as respect as any of the girls treat each other. We involved him in most of our views as well as included him more, listened to his points and the way he wanted things to be about in the film. I feel like we have approached this very well.
